バングラにはたくさんの少数民族が暮らしています。
モニプリ族は、シレット県のスリモンゴルという地域に多く暮らしています。
インドやミャンマーにも暮らしているとか。
Do you know "Manipuri"?
There are many adibashi(indigenous) communities in Bangladesh.
The Manipuris are mainly resides in Manipur, which is one of North-Eastern states of India
and also in Myanmar and Bangladesh.
They have their own tradition, language and script.
という手工芸品の団体を１９７８年に立ち上げて活動されている
モニプリ族のロビンさんのところに行ってきました。
現在モニプリ族はバングラに約10,000人。
人口１億6000人のバングラデシュ全体を考えたら本当に少数です。
ずっと受け継がれてきた文化や独自のアイデンティティーを
これからも次の世代が受け継いでいけるように・・・
そんな想いでロビンさんたちは活動を継続されていらっしゃいます。
SHILLEIKON is a community based organization which working since 1978.
The activities are concerned with the promotion
and development of an ancient Manipuri handloom weaving and crafts.
マイノリティーとしての難しさ、
急速に移り変わっていくバングラデシュ、
経済発展との共存、
次世代と一緒に考えたいこと、
日本の西陣織をはじめとする職人さんたち訪ねたときのこと、
地域に存在するコミュニティーのこと、
これから自分の故郷につくろうと思っている文化センターのこと、
たくさんのお話を聞かせてもらいました。
We talked a lot.....
The difficulties as a minority,
a rapid changing of Bangladesh,
positive and negative points of economic growth,
what he wants to do with young generation,
what he felt when he visited Japanese traditional Nishijin-ori craft,
the community of the countryside,
the new concept of cultural center which he plans to make in his hometown and so on.
「工場で大量生産されたものは安いし手軽ですからね。
でもそうしているうちにみんな同じになっちゃうんです。
それは少数民族だけの問題ではありませんけれど。」
"Of course mass produced goods are cheap and easy,
but it'll make nationally and globally uniform culture without realizing it.
This is not only the issue of minority..."
アイデンティティーとか、
伝統の継承とか、
文化の見直しとか、
言葉の保護とか、
日常生活でそんなことを考えないで生きている（考えなくてもいい）多くの日本人。
We, most of Japanese, don't need to think about
the identity, inheritance of tradition, reconsideration of our culture,
protection of own language and so on in daily life.
わたしのおじいちゃんのようなロビンさんの言葉ひとつひとつが、
大事な意味をもっていました。
He is like my grandpa.
All his words made me think many things deeply again.
今度、モニプリ族の暮らすスリモンゴルにも行ってみたいです。
Next time, I want to visit their hometown!
